Tuberculous ulcer of the Penis

Abstract
A case of tuberculous ulcer of the penis is presented with a breif review of literatures. A 44 year old married man was admitted with indurated ulcers in the penis (1¡¿1cm) and left lower leg (3¡¿3cm) which had been for about 10years. There were no general and local symptoms except for mild tenderness on the lesions and mild dull pain on the both knee joint.
His wife and family did not have tuberculosis and he denied extramarital sexual contact and there was no past history of venereal disease. The prostate, seminal vesicles and scrotal contents were normal on palpation.
Blood count, sedimentation rate, urinalysis were normal limit. Chest films, STS, I.VP, were negative and urine examinations were negative for acid fast bacilli on concentrated direct smear as well as cultrue media.
Bacteriological studies were done without disclosing specific micro-organisms in the lesions. Biopsies of the ulcer margin revealed tuberculosis.
We treated ulcers with streptomycin, INAH and PAS within about three months.
